Lead Civil Engineer - Infrastructure Planning

About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary Lead Civil Engineer to drive infrastructure planning initiatives from their office in Sheffield . This crucial role focuses on the strategic planning, feasibility assessment, and early-stage design of major infrastructure projects that will shape the future development of the South Yorkshire region. You will work closely with strategic clients and government bodies, translating policy objectives into actionable engineering plans. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent stakeholder management abilities, and a deep understanding of the planning process for large-scale infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of strategic infrastructure plans and master plans for large-scale projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies, options appraisals, and site selection analyses for new infrastructure developments.
• Develop conceptual designs and outline proposals, engaging with stakeholders to gather requirements and feedback.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and technical documentation for planning applications and funding bids.
• Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including government agencies, local authorities, and community groups.
• Identify potential risks and challenges associated with infrastructure projects and propose mitigation strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 9 years of experience in infrastructure planning, development, or design.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of the UK planning system, development control, and environmental assessment processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex planning projects and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
