Lead Civil Engineer - Urban Development

About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned and dynamic Lead Civil Engineer to spearhead key urban development projects in Manchester, Greater Manchester . This is a leadership position requiring a strategic thinker with a proven track record in managing large-scale civil engineering initiatives. You will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning and design to final construction and handover, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of quality and safety. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the design and delivery of complex urban development projects, including new builds and regeneration schemes.
• Lead a team of civil engineers and technical staff, providing direction, support, and performance management.
• Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, and schedules, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.
• Liaise with local authorities, utility providers, and other external bodies to secure necessary approvals and permits.
• Conduct site visits and supervisions to ensure construction quality and adherence to design specifications.
• Implement innovative engineering solutions to address challenges related to urban infrastructure, sustainability, and resilience.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with significant post-qualification experience.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in leading and managing civil engineering projects, particularly in urban development.
• Strong understanding of planning regulations, contract administration, and risk management.
• Proficiency in relevant civil engineering design and analysis software.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a relevant professional body is essential.
