Lead Computational Biologist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Computational Biologist to spearhead critical research initiatives. This is a fully remote opportunity, allowing you to contribute from anywhere while leading a high-impact team. You will play a pivotal role in designing and executing complex computational biology projects, mentoring junior scientists, and shaping the future direction of our client's R&D efforts. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of biological systems and a proven track record of applying computational methods to unravel biological mechanisms, driving forward novel therapeutic or diagnostic discoveries within a collaborative, remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and execution of computational biology research projects, setting strategic priorities and milestones.
• Mentor and manage a team of computational biologists and bioinformaticians, fostering a collaborative and productive research environment.
• Develop and implement advanced computational models and analytical strategies for complex biological data, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including bench scientists, clinicians, and data engineers, to integrate diverse data types and advance research objectives.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in computational biology and bioinformatics, introducing innovative techniques and tools to the team.

Requirements

• PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a closely related field with significant computational focus.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in computational biology research, with at least 2 years in a leadership or team management role.
• Demonstrated expertise in statistical genetics, machine learning, and pathway analysis.
• Strong programming skills in Python , R, and/or C++, coupled with experience in database management.
• Proven ability to manage projects, lead teams, and communicate complex scientific findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
