About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Computational Biologist to spearhead their bioinformatics and data analysis efforts in Newcastle upon Tyne . You will be instrumental in analyzing large-scale biological datasets, developing sophisticated computational models, and driving insights that inform strategic research decisions. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement cutting-edge computational and statistical methods for analyzing large biological datasets (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics).
- Lead and mentor a team of computational biologists and bioinformaticians, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Design and manage bioinformatics pipelines for data processing, quality control, and feature extraction.
- Collaborate closely with experimental biologists to interpret results and generate hypotheses.
- Present complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management and research collaborators.
Requirements
- PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- At least 7 years of experience in computational biology or bioinformatics, with a proven track record in data analysis and interpretation.
- Expertise in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python, R, and Perl.
- Strong knowledge of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and their application to biological data.
- Experience with managing and analyzing large-scale datasets and high-performance computing environments is essential.
