About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Computational Biologist to drive their bioinformatics and data analysis efforts in Derby . Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and execution of bioinformatics analyses for large-scale biological datasets (genomics, RNA-seq, proteomics).
• Develop and implement novel computational pipelines and algorithms to extract meaningful biological insights.
• Collaborate closely with experimental biologists and other scientists to define research questions and interpret results.
• Manage and mentor a team of computational biologists, fostering scientific rigor and technical excellence.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in bioinformatics, genomics, and computational biology techniques and tools.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in computational biology or bioinformatics, with a focus on analyzing complex biological data.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Perl, and experience with bioinformatics tools and databases.
• Demonstrated experience in leading research projects and mentoring junior team members.
• Strong understanding of biological principles and the ability to translate biological questions into computational analyses.
