About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Lead Construction Health & Safety Officer to champion safety across their projects, operating under a hybrid model. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive health and safety strategies, conducting rigorous site inspections, and providing expert guidance to site teams and management. While strategic planning and reporting may be done remotely, significant on-site presence is required to ensure compliance and foster a strong safety culture. You will play a critical role in maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel involved in construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and review the company's Health and Safety policies and procedures for construction sites.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with legislation and company standards.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
- Deliver health and safety training and toolbox talks to site personnel and management.
- Advise project teams on all aspects of construction health, safety, and environmental management.
- Maintain accurate records of safety performance, training, and inspections.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer in the construction industry.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., NEBOSH National General Certificate or Diploma).
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and construction best practices.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and reporting skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to safety management.
