About the Role

Our client, a major player in the energy sector , is looking for a highly skilled Lead Control Systems Engineer to join their operations in Derby . This key role involves leading the design, implementation, and optimization of sophisticated control systems for power generation and distribution assets. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of these critical systems, working closely with project teams and operations personnel. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, specification, and implementation of industrial control systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA) for energy facilities.
• Develop and maintain control strategies, logic, and programming for new and existing systems.
• Oversee system integration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
• Ensure all control system designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of control systems engineers.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, operations, and maintenance teams to optimize system performance and reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field. Master's preferred.
• Minimum of 9 years of experience in control systems engineering , with a significant focus on the energy industry .
• In-depth knowledge of DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems from major vendors (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Honeywell).
• Experience with process automation , instrumentation, and industrial networks.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles relevant to industrial control systems.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills.
