Lead Controls Engineer - Energy Systems

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Controls Engineer to manage and develop control systems for diverse energy applications in Bristol . This critical role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing sophisticated control strategies for power generation, distribution, and storage systems. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement advanced control algorithms and logic for energy systems, including power plants, microgrids, and grid-scale storage.
• Oversee the integration of control systems with various hardware components and software platforms.
• Conduct system-level testing, commissioning, and performance tuning of control solutions.
• Lead a team of controls engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and project management.
• Ensure control systems comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and performance requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex control issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to maintain optimal system operation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on control systems.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in control systems engineering, with significant exposure to the energy sector .
• Strong proficiency in programming languages commonly used for control systems (e.g., C/C++, Ladder Logic, Structured Text).
• Experience with PLCs, DCS, SCADA systems, and industrial automation technologies.
• In-depth understanding of control theory, dynamics, and system modeling.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role in Bristol .
