About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Controls Engineer to manage and develop control systems for diverse energy applications in Bristol . This critical role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing sophisticated control strategies for power generation, distribution, and storage systems. You will lead a team of controls engineers, ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of complex energy infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement advanced control algorithms and logic for energy systems, including power plants, microgrids, and grid-scale storage.
- Oversee the integration of control systems with various hardware components and software platforms.
- Conduct system-level testing, commissioning, and performance tuning of control solutions.
- Lead a team of controls engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and project management.
- Ensure control systems comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and performance requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex control issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to maintain optimal system operation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on control systems.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in control systems engineering, with significant exposure to the energy sector .
- Strong proficiency in programming languages commonly used for control systems (e.g., C/C++, Ladder Logic, Structured Text).
- Experience with PLCs, DCS, SCADA systems, and industrial automation technologies.
- In-depth understanding of control theory, dynamics, and system modeling.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role in Bristol .
