About the Role
Our client is looking for a dynamic and experienced Lead Data Engineer to architect and manage their Big Data Solutions in Wolverhampton . This leadership role is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will work with a variety of data sources and technologies, ensuring data quality, availability, and performance. This is a critical position for a seasoned professional looking to build and lead a team focused on leveraging the power of data.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines for large volumes of data.
- Implement and manage big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
- Build and optimize data warehouses and data lakes to support business intelligence and analytics needs.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data systems.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements.
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering with a focus on big data technologies.
- Proven expertise in building ETL/ELT pipelines and managing data warehousing solutions.
- Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, or Scala.
- Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and distributed systems.
- Experience with data modeling and database design principles.
