About the Role
Our client is searching for a visionary Lead Data Scientist to spearhead their artificial intelligence initiatives within Drug Discovery . This is a fully remote role, allowing you to shape the future of pharmaceutical research from anywhere. You will be responsible for developing and deploying advanced machine learning models to accelerate the identification and validation of drug candidates. This position demands a blend of deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong leadership capabilities to guide a talented team and drive impactful projects, fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration across distributed teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of machine learning models for predictive analytics in drug discovery, including target identification and lead optimization.
- Manage and mentor a team of data scientists, providing technical guidance and fostering their professional growth.
- Collaborate with chemists, biologists, and clinicians to define project requirements and translate complex biological problems into data science solutions.
- Oversee the collection, cleaning, and feature engineering of diverse datasets, ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and their applications in the pharmaceutical industry, and champion their adoption.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Significant experience (7+ years) in data science, with a focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Proven track record of leading successful data science projects and managing technical teams.
- Expertise in programming languages such as Python or R, and proficiency with ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
- Strong understanding of biological and chemical data relevant to drug discovery, coupled with excellent communication and collaboration skills for a remote setting.
