About the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and deployment of machine learning models for applications such as fraud detection, risk assessment, and customer segmentation.
- Design and implement advanced statistical analysis and data mining techniques to uncover trends and patterns in large datasets.
- Mentor and guide a team of data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
- Collaborate with IT and business units to define data requirements, ensure data quality, and integrate analytical solutions.
- Communicate complex analytical results and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management.
- Stay at the forefront of data science and machine learning advancements, evaluating and recommending new tools and methodologies.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in data science, with a proven track record of leading complex projects and teams.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and expertise in relevant libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Strong experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and SQL.
- Excellent understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and experimental design.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to effectively work in Edinburgh .
