Lead Data Scientist - Bioinformatics

About the Role

Our client is seeking an exceptional Lead Data Scientist with a strong background in bioinformatics to spearhead their remote-first data science initiatives. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of advanced data science models for biological data analysis.
• Design and execute machine learning pipelines for genomics, proteomics, and other omics data.
• Manage and mentor a team of remote data scientists, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
• Collaborate with researchers and bioinformaticians globally to define data analysis strategies and interpret results.
• Develop and maintain scalable data infrastructure and analytical tools suitable for a remote workforce.
• Present complex findings and recommendations to senior leadership and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Extensive experience (7+ years) in data science , with a significant portion focused on bioinformatics or computational biology.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Deep understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques.
• Experience with large-scale biological datasets, including genomic sequencing data (e.g., WGS, RNA-Seq).
• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing remote technical teams and projects.
