About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data Scientist to join their fully remote team, working remotely from Southampton . You will be responsible for developing predictive models, optimizing energy consumption, and identifying new opportunities for efficiency and innovation within the energy sector. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of machine learning models for energy forecasting, anomaly detection, and demand-side management.
- Extract, clean, and analyse large, complex datasets from various energy sources and systems.
- Design and execute data mining strategies to identify trends, patterns, and key performance indicators.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate data insights into strategic initiatives.
- Mentor and guide a team of junior data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure necessary for robust analytics.
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- 8+ years of professional experience in data science, with a significant focus on energy analytics or related domains.
- Expertise in Python or R, and proficiency with machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Strong experience with SQL, big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Proven ability to develop and deploy predictive models at scale.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present complex findings to diverse audiences.
