About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Data Scientist to spearhead their machine learning initiatives in Birmingham . You will be responsible for guiding a team of data scientists, defining the strategy for AI/ML projects, and driving the development of predictive models and data-driven solutions that provide critical business insights. This role requires a deep understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and the ability to translate complex data findings into actionable business strategies. You will play a pivotal role in shaping how our client leverages data to gain a competitive advantage, working within a supportive and innovative research and development environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Develop and deploy sophisticated machine learning models for predictive analytics, classification, and recommendation systems.
- Define project roadmaps, manage priorities, and ensure the timely delivery of data science projects.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to understand business needs and translate them into data science problems.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model evaluation to ensure accuracy and performance.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and machine learning and champion their adoption within the company.
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- 8+ years of professional experience in data science and machine learning , with at least 2 years in a lead or management role.
- Proven track record of successfully deploying ML models into production environments.
- Expertise in Python or R, and familiarity with ML libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Strong understanding of statistical principles, experimental design, and data mining techniques.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex models to non-technical audiences.
