About the Role

Our client seeks a highly skilled and innovative Lead Data Scientist to spearhead their machine learning initiatives. Based in our Newcastle upon Tyne office, you will lead a team of data scientists in developing and deploying advanced predictive models and AI solutions that drive business growth and improve customer experiences. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise in data science and machine learning, strong leadership capabilities, and a strategic mindset to translate complex data into actionable insights. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of sophisticated machine learning models and algorithms.
• Mentor and guide a team of data scientists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
• Translate complex business problems into data science frameworks and solutions.
• Oversee the end-to-end data science lifecycle, from data exploration and feature engineering to model validation and deployment.
• Communicate complex findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and data science methodologies.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in data science and machine learning , with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record of successfully deploying ML models in production environments.
• Expertise in programming languages like Python or R, and relevant libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Strong knowledge of statistical modeling, data mining, and experimental design.
