Lead Data Scientist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly analytical and experienced Lead Data Scientist to join their advanced analytics team, remotely based but connected to their Belfast operations. This is a leadership position where you will guide a team in uncovering insights from complex datasets, developing predictive models, and driving data-informed decision-making across the organization. You will play a key role in defining the company's data science strategy and implementing cutting-edge analytical solutions to solve critical business challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, overseeing project execution from inception to deployment.
• Design, develop, and implement machine learning models and statistical algorithms to address business problems.
• Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
• Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate data science models into production systems.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in data science, with a proven track record of leading projects and teams.
• Expertise in programming languages like Python or R, and proficiency with data science libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong knowledge of statistical modeling, machine learning techniques, and experimental design.
• Experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, AWS, Azure).
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
