About the Role
Our client is actively seeking an experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to spearhead their infrastructure and deployment initiatives in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior position is crucial for architecting, implementing, and managing the CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and automation strategies that underpin our client's software delivery lifecycle. You will play a key role in ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of our production environments, fostering a culture of collaboration between development and operations teams. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of modern DevOps practices and tools, with a proven track record of leading successful infrastructure projects and mentoring technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
- Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS , Azure) ensuring high availability, security, and cost-efficiency.
- Implement and enforce infrastructure as code (IaC) principles using tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Develop and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure proactive issue detection and resolution.
- Collaborate with development teams to streamline application deployment and improve system performance.
- Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, guiding technical decisions and fostering best practices.
Requirements
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in a DevOps or SRE role, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior capacity.
- Strong proficiency with cloud platforms, particularly AWS , including services like EC2, S3, RDS, and EKS.
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes .
- Expertise in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, security best practices, and system administration (Linux/Windows).
- Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor team members effectively.
