About the Role
Our client seeks an experienced and forward-thinking Lead DevOps Engineer to join their team in Newcastle upon Tyne . You will be instrumental in building and maintaining the infrastructure that supports our client's high-traffic applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. This hybrid role offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-office collaboration, allowing you to contribute to critical architectural decisions while working closely with development and operations teams. You will champion DevOps best practices, automate processes, and drive efficiency across the software delivery lifecycle, playing a key role in our client's technological advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated building, testing, and deployment of applications.
- Develop and maintain robust infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Ansible.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and security, implementing proactive measures to prevent issues.
- Collaborate with software development teams to optimize application performance and deployment strategies.
- Manage and scale cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role, with leadership experience.
- Strong proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
- Hands-on experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm).
- Expertise in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
- Solid understanding of networking, security principles, and monitoring tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment.
