About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to spearhead their infrastructure and deployment strategies in Newcastle upon Tyne . This critical role involves building and managing scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure, automating deployment pipelines, and fostering a culture of collaboration between development and operations teams. You will be instrumental in driving the adoption of DevOps best practices, enhancing system observability, and ensuring the smooth operation of our client's cutting-edge technology platform. This is a unique opportunity to lead significant technical initiatives and make a tangible impact on the company's operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for automated building, testing, and deployment of applications.
- Manage and scale cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Develop and enforce best practices for system monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response.
- Automate operational tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance, reliability, and security.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior DevOps engineers and SREs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Systems Administration roles.
- Proven expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS , Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes , Docker Swarm).
- Strong proficiency with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef) and scripting languages (Bash, Python, Go).
- In-depth knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI) and monitoring solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
- Excellent understanding of networking concepts, security best practices, and system architecture.
