Lead Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Drilling Engineer to oversee all aspects of drilling operations in Milton Keynes . This critical role involves planning, execution, and optimization of drilling campaigns to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective well construction. You will lead a team of drilling engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship, while collaborating closely with subsurface and operations teams. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute detailed drilling programs and well plans, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Manage drilling operations, including casing design, cementing, well control, and directional drilling.
• Supervise and mentor junior drilling engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
• Conduct daily performance reviews, analyzing drilling data to identify areas for optimization and cost reduction.
• Liaise with service providers to ensure the efficient and safe delivery of drilling services.
• Manage drilling budgets and track expenditure against planned costs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in drilling engineering , with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Proven experience in complex well planning and execution, including deepwater or challenging formations.
• Strong understanding of drilling fluid properties, cementing techniques, and wellbore stability.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
