Lead Electrical Design Engineer (Remote)

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced and dynamic Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join their fully remote team, based in or near Sheffield . This senior role is instrumental in guiding the design and development of innovative electrical solutions for a global client base. You will lead a team of talented design engineers, oversee complex design projects, and ensure the highest standards of technical excellence and innovation are maintained. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to lead design efforts, mentor junior engineers, and contribute significantly to the company's technological advancement, all within a flexible, remote working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process from concept through to production, managing project timelines and deliverables.
• Mentor and guide a team of electrical design engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
• Develop and review complex electrical schematics, component selections, and PCB layouts for new products and systems.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing, to ensure seamless product development.
• Implement best practices in electrical design, DFM/DFA, and technical documentation to ensure product quality and reliability.
• Troubleshoot design issues and provide expert technical solutions, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Over 8 years of progressive experience in electrical design, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
• Expertise in PCB design, schematic capture, and power electronics.
• Proficiency with industry-standard ECAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD).
• Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and communication protocols.
• Demonstrated ability to lead remote teams and manage projects effectively in a distributed work setting.
