About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Electrical Design Engineer to spearhead their electrical engineering initiatives in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior position involves overseeing all aspects of electrical design for major projects, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to project objectives. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage electrical design projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
• Develop and implement advanced electrical system designs, including power generation, distribution, and control systems, for complex industrial applications.
• Supervise and mentor a team of electrical engineers and designers, providing technical oversight and performance feedback.
• Conduct detailed feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical reviews of electrical designs.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international electrical safety standards and building codes.
• Collaborate with procurement and construction teams to ensure smooth project execution and resolve design-related queries.

Requirements

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline is essential; Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable.
• Over 8 years of professional experience in electrical engineering design, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Demonstrated expertise in electrical system design , including high voltage systems, VFDs, and PLC integration.
• In-depth knowledge of UK electrical regulations, such as BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations).
• Proficiency in industry-standard CAD and simulation software for electrical engineering.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills.
