Lead Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Electrical Design Engineer to spearhead their design operations in Birmingham . This critical role involves taking ownership of the electrical design lifecycle for major infrastructure and industrial projects. You will be responsible for setting design standards, managing a team of design engineers, and ensuring the technical integrity and commercial viability of all electrical design outputs. Key Responsibilities

• Take the lead in developing innovative and efficient electrical design solutions for large-scale projects.
• Manage and mentor a team of electrical design engineers, overseeing workload distribution and performance reviews.
• Develop and implement robust design processes, standards, and documentation procedures.
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to define project requirements and deliver bespoke electrical solutions.
• Perform complex calculations, risk assessments, and feasibility studies for new electrical installations and upgrades.
• Ensure all designs comply with current BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and other relevant safety standards.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
• Significant experience (10+ years) as an Electrical Design Engineer, with demonstrable leadership experience.
• Expertise in low voltage and high voltage systems design , including distribution, protection, and earthing.
• Proficiency with electrical design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and ETAP.
• Strong understanding of project management principles and contract administration.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
