Lead Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Lead Electrical Design Engineer to spearhead their electrical engineering initiatives in Birmingham . This leadership position involves guiding the entire design lifecycle for new electrical products and systems, ensuring innovation, efficiency, and compliance. You will play a crucial role in defining design strategies, managing engineering teams, and collaborating with stakeholders to bring ambitious projects to fruition. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of electrical systems, from initial concept through to production release.
• Manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Oversee the creation and review of electrical schematics , wiring diagrams, and bill of materials.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing, procurement, and R&D teams to ensure successful product implementation.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for new projects and technologies.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Over 10 years of experience in electrical design, with at least 3 years in a lead engineering role .
• Proven expertise in power electronics , control systems, and embedded systems design.
• Demonstrated experience with ECAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence) and simulation software (e.g., SPICE).
• Strong project management skills and experience delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
