Lead Electrical Engineer - Power Systems

About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary Lead Electrical Engineer with expertise in Power Systems to join their team in Belfast . This senior role involves overseeing the design, implementation, and optimization of complex electrical systems for a variety of energy projects, including grid integration, power generation, and distribution networks. You will provide technical leadership, mentor a team of electrical engineers, and ensure that all projects adhere to the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This is a key position that requires strong technical acumen, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to driving innovation in the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of high-voltage electrical systems, substations, and power distribution networks.
• Develop and review technical specifications, single-line diagrams, and protection schemes for power systems.
• Conduct power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, transient stability, and arc flash analysis.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring timely and cost-efficient project delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level electrical engineers.
• Collaborate with clients, project stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure project success and compliance.

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in power systems engineering, with a significant portion in a lead or senior capacity.
• Extensive knowledge of power system design, analysis tools (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP), and protection relays.
• Experience with grid code compliance and connection agreements for power generation facilities.
• Proven ability to manage complex electrical engineering projects from concept to commissioning.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
