Lead Electrical Engineer - Renewables

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to focus on the rapidly growing Renewables sector , based in Glasgow . This key role involves leading the electrical design and engineering aspects of innovative renewable energy projects, such as wind farms, solar parks, and battery storage systems. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and integration of electrical systems for renewable energy projects, including grid connection and protection.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and technical due diligence for potential renewable energy sites.
• Manage the electrical engineering aspects of projects, from concept and design through to procurement and commissioning.
• Ensure designs meet all relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
• Mentor and develop a team of electrical engineers working on renewable energy technologies.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including grid operators, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with a strong focus on power systems.
• Significant experience (8+ years) in electrical engineering, with a substantial portion dedicated to renewable energy projects.
• In-depth knowledge of AC/DC systems, power electronics, grid codes, and protection schemes for renewables.
• Proficiency with relevant design and simulation software (e.g., PSCAD, PVSyst).
• Proven project management and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
