Lead Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent Lead Electrical Engineer to manage and oversee electrical engineering activities for their projects based in or around Wolverhampton . This position requires a strong technical background in electrical systems design, power distribution, and control systems, specifically within the demanding context of the oil and gas industry. You will be responsible for leading a team of electrical engineers, ensuring the successful delivery of electrical designs that meet safety, quality, and performance standards. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of electrical systems, including power distribution, switchgear, transformers, and generators.
• Oversee the specification and selection of electrical equipment for various projects.
• Ensure compliance with international electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., IEC, NEC).
• Manage the electrical engineering team, including workload allocation, technical guidance, and performance reviews.
• Review and approve electrical design documents, calculations, and drawings prepared by the team.
• Collaborate with project management, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with a substantial portion in the oil and gas or heavy industrial sector .
• Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing project deliverables.
• In-depth knowledge of hazardous area classifications and associated electrical equipment.
• Expertise in electrical design software and simulation tools.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
