About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Energy Storage Systems Engineer to join their innovative team in Sheffield . Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and specification of large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS).
• Oversee the integration of BESS with renewable generation assets and grid infrastructure.
• Develop control strategies and system architectures for optimal performance, efficiency, and safety.
• Manage project lifecycles, from concept and feasibility studies to commissioning and ongoing operations.
• Mentor and guide a team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and safety regulations for energy storage systems.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in the design and implementation of energy storage systems , particularly BESS.
• Strong understanding of battery chemistries, power electronics, grid integration, and control systems.
• Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex technical projects.
• Familiarity with simulation tools and software for power system and BESS modeling.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to thrive in a hybrid work setting in Sheffield .
