Lead Exploration Geologist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Lead Exploration Geologist to join their growing team in Cardiff . This role is essential for identifying and evaluating new mineral resource opportunities. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and interpreting geological exploration programs, utilizing advanced techniques to discover and assess potential mining sites. The successful candidate will provide expert geological guidance, mentor junior geologists, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance projects from discovery to feasibility. Key Responsibilities

• Design and manage comprehensive geological exploration programs, including field mapping, sampling, and drilling campaigns.
• Interpret geological data, including geophysical surveys, geochemical analyses, and drill core logs, to define mineralized zones.
• Utilize GIS and geological modeling software to create 3D geological models and resource estimates.
• Conduct site visits and supervise field operations, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental protocols.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management and stakeholders.
• Mentor and guide junior geologists and field technicians, fostering their professional development.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in mineral exploration geology, with a focus on resource definition .
• Proven expertise in geological mapping, structural geology, and interpretation of exploration data.
• Proficiency with geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, ArcGIS, Vulcan).
• Strong understanding of mining project lifecycles and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
