About the Role

Our client is looking for an imaginative and strategic Lead Game Designer to guide the development of innovative gaming experiences in Edinburgh . This role requires a deep passion for games, a keen understanding of player psychology, and the ability to conceptualize and articulate compelling game mechanics and systems. You will lead a talented design team, fostering a collaborative environment where creativity and technical execution thrive. Key Responsibilities

• Define and document core game mechanics, systems, and player progression throughout the game development lifecycle.
• Lead and mentor a team of game designers, providing direction, feedback, and fostering a collaborative design culture.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, artists, and producers to ensure the cohesive implementation of game design vision.
• Conduct playtesting sessions, analyze feedback, and iterate on designs to enhance player experience and engagement.
• Contribute to the overall game vision, ensuring narrative, gameplay, and art are harmoniously integrated.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in game design , with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
• Proven experience designing and shipping successful titles across multiple platforms (PC, Console, Mobile).
• Strong understanding of game development pipelines, engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine), and design tools.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• A passion for games and a deep understanding of player psychology and engagement mechanics.
