About the Role
Our client, a highly innovative game studio in Wolverhampton , is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Game Designer to guide the creation of their next flagship title. You will be responsible for defining the core gameplay mechanics, systems, and player experience, leading a team of talented designers. This role demands a blend of creative vision, strategic thinking, and strong leadership to deliver an engaging and polished product. Working within a dynamic hybrid environment, you will collaborate across disciplines to ensure the game's design vision is realized effectively, fostering a culture of creativity and iterative development within the design department.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and document core gameplay mechanics , systems, and player progression loops.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of game designers, fostering their professional development.
- Collaborate with art, programming, and production teams to ensure the design vision is integrated seamlessly.
- Oversee the creation of design documentation, including GDDs, feature specifications, and wireframes.
- Champion the player experience, ensuring all design decisions contribute to an engaging and fun game.
- Conduct playtesting sessions and analyze feedback to iterate and improve game design.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience in game design , with at least two shipped titles in a lead or senior design capacity.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing complex game systems and mechanics.
- Strong understanding of player psychology, game balancing, and engagement strategies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in a hybrid work environment , effectively managing remote and in-office team members.
- Proficiency with game design documentation tools and methodologies.
