About the Role

Our client is searching for a talented and imaginative Lead Game Writer to spearhead narrative development for exciting new projects within their Arts & Entertainment studio located in Birmingham . This senior position requires a passion for storytelling and the ability to craft compelling narratives that resonate with players. You will lead a team of writers, ensuring consistency and quality across all narrative elements, from character dialogue to overarching plotlines. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the core narrative, storyline, and character arcs for assigned game projects.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of game writers, providing constructive feedback and ensuring high-quality output.
• Write engaging dialogue, quest text, lore entries, and other in-game narrative content.
• Collaborate with game designers, level designers, and art teams to ensure narrative elements are integrated effectively with gameplay and visual design.
• Establish and enforce style guides and writing standards for all narrative content.
• Review and edit scripts from other writers and contribute to narrative design documentation.

Requirements

• Extensive experience as a Game Writer or Narrative Designer, with a portfolio demonstrating strong narrative construction and dialogue writing skills.
• Proven ability to lead and manage a writing team effectively.
• Deep understanding of interactive storytelling and the unique demands of writing for video games.
• Experience with game development tools and workflows, including script formatting and version control.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
