Lead Geophysicist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Geophysicist to spearhead their geophysical exploration efforts in Edinburgh . This role is critical for interpreting subsurface data to identify potential hydrocarbon reserves and optimize exploration strategies. You will lead a team of geophysicists, manage geophysical projects, and employ state-of-the-art technologies to analyze seismic and other geophysical data. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of seismic data for exploration and appraisal projects.
• Develop and implement advanced geophysical methodologies and workflows.
• Integrate geophysical data with geological and engineering information to build comprehensive subsurface models.
• Manage geophysical project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Mentor and guide junior geophysicists and technical staff.
• Present complex geophysical interpretations and recommendations to management and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics, Physics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in exploration geophysics within the oil and gas sector.
• Expertise in seismic data processing and interpretation techniques (2D, 3D, 4D).
• Proficiency with geophysical software packages (e.g., Petrel, OpendTect).
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
