Lead Geoscientist - Remote

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Geoscientist to join their globally distributed team, operating remotely within the UK . In this critical role, you will spearhead geological interpretation and analysis for exploration and development projects, providing essential insights into subsurface structures and potential hydrocarbon resources. You will lead a virtual team of geoscientists, mentor junior staff, and collaborate closely with reservoir engineers and project managers to define drilling targets and optimize field development strategies. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the geological evaluation of new exploration acreage and existing fields, integrating seismic, well log, and core data.
• Develop and manage geological models and interpretations using industry-standard software.
• Provide critical input for prospect generation, risking, and resource estimation processes.
• Mentor and guide a team of geoscientists, fostering technical excellence and collaborative problem-solving.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including reservoir engineering and drilling, to define optimal field development plans.
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of geological data and documentation for all assigned projects.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in geoscience within the upstream oil and gas sector, with a strong focus on exploration.
• Expertise in seismic interpretation, well correlation, and subsurface mapping techniques.
• Proficiency with leading geological software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite, IHS Markit tools).
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage complex projects remotely.
• Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and petroleum systems analysis.
