About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Geotechnical Engineer to manage their operations in Birmingham, West Midlands . This senior position involves leading a team of geotechnical specialists, providing expert advice on ground conditions, foundation design, and slope stability for major infrastructure and construction projects. You will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and integrity of structural foundations and earthworks, managing client relationships, and driving the technical quality of geotechnical investigations and designs. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the geotechnical engineering team, overseeing project execution from inception to completion.
• Conduct detailed site investigations, including soil sampling, laboratory testing analysis, and interpretation of results.
• Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, and slope stabilization measures for complex projects.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, specifications, and design drawings.
• Provide expert technical guidance and review work undertaken by junior engineers and technicians.
• Manage client liaison, tender preparation, and contract negotiation for geotechnical services.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with demonstrable project leadership.
• Extensive knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, and GeoStudio.
• Strong understanding of UK geotechnical standards and Eurocodes.
• Excellent report writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills are essential.
