Lead Geothermal Project Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary Lead Geothermal Project Engineer to spearhead critical projects in Birmingham . This role is central to developing and expanding our client's footprint in renewable geothermal energy solutions. You will lead multidisciplinary teams from conceptualization through to operational handover, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of geothermal technologies and project management intricacies, coupled with strong leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of geothermal project development, including feasibility studies, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, mitigating risks and resolving issues proactively.
• Lead and mentor project engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Engage with stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, suppliers, contractors, and local communities.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout project lifecycles.
• Evaluate and integrate new technologies to enhance the efficiency and economic viability of geothermal energy systems.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience in project engineering or management, with significant exposure to the renewable energy sector, ideally geothermal.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex energy projects from inception to completion.
• Strong knowledge of geothermal power plant technologies, drilling, and subsurface operations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable.
