Lead Grid Integration Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Grid Integration Engineer to play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategies for connecting renewable energy sources to the national grid. Based in Newcastle upon Tyne , you will lead a team of engineers, ensuring compliance with all relevant grid codes and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and engineering for grid connection applications for large-scale renewable energy projects.
• Develop and implement strategies for grid stability, power quality, and system resilience.
• Ensure all designs and implementations comply with UK grid codes, national regulations, and industry standards.
• Manage and mentor a team of junior and senior grid engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
• Liaise with network operators, regulators, and other stakeholders to negotiate and secure grid connection agreements.
• Oversee the commissioning and testing of grid connection equipment and systems.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with a specialization in power systems.
• A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in power systems engineering , with a significant focus on grid integration of renewables.
• In-depth knowledge of UK grid codes, network regulations, and power system analysis tools (e.g., PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
• Demonstrated experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
