Lead Mechanical Design Engineer - Remote

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for a fully remote position. This role offers the opportunity to lead critical mechanical design projects from conception to completion, working with a talented, distributed team. While remote, occasional site visits may be required, potentially in or around Oxford . You will be instrumental in shaping the design process, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, innovative mechanical solutions. This is a key role for an individual passionate about design excellence and leading technical efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development process for new products and systems.
• Mentor and guide a team of mechanical designers and engineers working remotely.
• Develop and implement robust design methodologies and standards for the team.
• Conduct and oversee complex engineering analyses and simulations to ensure design integrity.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., electronics, software, manufacturing) in a remote environment.
• Ensure effective project planning, resource allocation, and timeline management for mechanical design tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in mechanical design, with a proven track record of leadership.
• Strong expertise in CAD/CAE software and simulation tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage engineering projects and teams effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills suitable for remote collaboration.
• Experience with DFM/DFA principles and various manufacturing processes.
