About the Role

Our client, a prominent automotive technology provider, is seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to head their design team in Coventry . This leadership role will involve overseeing the development of innovative automotive components, from initial concept to final production readiness. You will be responsible for guiding a team of talented engineers, ensuring the technical integrity of projects, and collaborating with cross-functional departments to meet ambitious product development goals. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical design engineers in the development of automotive systems and components.
• Oversee the creation and validation of detailed mechanical designs using advanced CAD/CAE tools .
• Define project technical requirements and ensure designs meet performance, cost, and timing objectives.
• Manage design reviews, risk assessments, and documentation control throughout the product development cycle.
• Collaborate closely with electrical engineering, software development, and manufacturing teams.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in automotive mechanical design.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with a strong academic record.
• Over 10 years of experience in mechanical design, with significant exposure to the automotive sector.
• Demonstrated experience in a leadership or team lead role.
• Expertise in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing ) and tolerance analysis.
• Proficiency with advanced simulation software for thermal, structural, and dynamic analysis.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
