About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to spearhead their design initiatives in Coventry . This critical role involves leading a team of engineers in the conceptualization, design, and development of innovative mechanical products and systems. You will play a key part in setting design standards, mentoring team members, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects from initial concept through to production, contributing to the company's reputation for engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of mechanical design engineers, providing technical direction and project oversight.
- Develop innovative mechanical designs for new products, ensuring they meet performance, cost, and manufacturability targets.
- Oversee the creation and review of detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications using CAD software.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, R&D, and sales departments to ensure design alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
- Implement design validation and verification processes, including prototyping and testing.
- Drive continuous improvement in design processes and methodologies, fostering a culture of innovation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical design, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Expertise in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks , CATIA , or Inventor , and proficiency in FEA.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials selection, and DFM (Design for Manufacturing).
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop engineering talent.
