Lead Mechanical Engineer - Automotive

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and accomplished Lead Mechanical Engineer to spearhead their automotive engineering division in Coventry . This leadership role involves guiding a team of engineers in the design, development, and implementation of complex automotive systems. You will play a crucial part in conceptualizing next-generation vehicle components, ensuring they meet stringent performance, safety, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the design and development of automotive mechanical systems, including powertrain, chassis, and body components.
• Manage and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
• Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer specifications.
• Conduct detailed design reviews, performance analysis, and validation testing for new components and systems.
• Work closely with manufacturing and supply chain partners to ensure seamless production integration.
• Contribute to strategic planning and budgeting for the mechanical engineering department.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
• At least 10 years of experience in the automotive industry, with a significant portion in design and development.
• Proven experience in a leadership or management role within an engineering team.
• In-depth knowledge of automotive design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAE tools such as CATIA V5, ANSYS, or similar.
• Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
