Lead Mechanical Engineer - Power Generation

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to manage and drive key initiatives within their power generation operations in Oxford . This senior role will oversee the design, installation, maintenance, and optimization of mechanical systems critical to power plant efficiency and reliability. You will lead a team of mechanical engineers, ensuring the highest standards of safety, performance, and compliance are met. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical engineering design and implementation for new power generation projects and upgrades.
• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of major mechanical equipment, including turbines, boilers, pumps, and heat exchangers.
• Develop and manage predictive and preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and lifespan.
• Ensure all mechanical engineering activities comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the mechanical engineering team.
• Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Review and approve technical specifications, drawings, and calculations for mechanical systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the power generation industry.
• Proven expertise in the design, operation, and maintenance of thermal power plant equipment (e.g., steam turbines, gas turbines, boilers).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science.
• Experience with project management and managing engineering teams.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software and simulation tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
