About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to spearhead their Research and Development initiatives in Newcastle upon Tyne . Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage R&D projects from ideation through to proof-of-concept, defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
• Develop innovative mechanical concepts and designs for new products and technologies, leveraging advanced engineering principles.
• Oversee the creation of prototypes, conduct rigorous testing, and analyze results to inform design iterations.
• Mentor and guide a team of mechanical engineers, fostering technical excellence and a culture of innovation.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, electrical engineering, and software development, to ensure alignment and successful product integration.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in mechanical engineering, materials, and manufacturing techniques, identifying opportunities for technological adoption.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Significant experience (7+ years) in mechanical design, product development, and R&D, with a focus on innovation.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing technical teams and projects.
• Expertise in advanced simulation tools (FEA, CFD) and 3D CAD software.
• Strong understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM) and various manufacturing processes.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
