About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their fully remote engineering department, based out of Newcastle upon Tyne . In this critical role, you will spearhead the design and development of cutting-edge mechanical systems, providing technical leadership and strategic direction from a remote setting. You will champion innovative solutions, mentor a globally distributed team of engineers, and ensure the highest standards of technical excellence across all projects. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire lifecycle of mechanical design projects, from conceptualization to implementation, ensuring successful delivery within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Develop and refine complex mechanical designs, utilizing advanced CAD/CAE tools and simulation software to optimize performance and reliability.
• Establish and enforce robust engineering standards, processes, and best practices across the remote engineering team.
• Provide expert technical guidance, mentorship, and support to mechanical engineers working from various locations worldwide.
• Collaborate closely with product management, electrical engineering, and software development teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.
• Drive innovation by researching and integrating new technologies and methodologies into the design and development workflow.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical design, analysis, and system integration.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineering teams and complex projects, preferably in a remote capacity.
• Expertise in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) , finite element analysis (FEA), and other advanced simulation techniques.
• Proficiency with industry-standard CAD software and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
• Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills essential for a distributed team.
