Lead Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Mechanical Engineer to spearhead critical engineering initiatives from their Birmingham facility. This leadership role involves guiding a team of engineers, overseeing project execution, and contributing technically to the design and development of advanced mechanical systems. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of mechanical engineers on multiple concurrent projects, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
• Oversee the entire mechanical design process, from initial concept generation through to detailed design, analysis, and validation.
• Develop and implement robust engineering processes and best practices to enhance team efficiency and product quality.
• Conduct and review complex engineering analyses, including thermal management , structural integrity, and dynamic simulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols throughout the design and development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role .
• Demonstrated expertise in advanced mechanical design principles, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and materials science.
• Proficiency in state-of-the-art 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX) and engineering simulation tools.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate engineering teams, manage project risks, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with all levels of the organization and external partners.
