Lead Metallurgist - Mineral Processing

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Lead Metallurgist to spearhead their mineral processing operations in Liverpool . This senior position involves leading the development, optimization, and implementation of metallurgical processes to maximize the recovery and quality of valuable minerals from mined ore. You will be instrumental in driving efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring sustainable practices within their mining facilities. This role requires strong leadership, deep technical expertise in mineral processing, and a commitment to excellence in a challenging industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of the mineral processing plant, including crushing, grinding, flotation, and leaching circuits.
• Optimize metallurgical processes to enhance metal recovery rates, concentrate grades, and throughput.
• Conduct metallurgical test work, pilot plant trials, and full-scale plant evaluations to identify improvement opportunities.
• Troubleshoot process issues and implement solutions to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
• Develop and manage the metallurgical budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Mentor and develop the metallurgical and plant operations team.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in mineral processing, with significant experience in a lead or senior role.
• In-depth knowledge of various mineral processing techniques (e.g., comminution, gravity separation, solvent extraction, electrowinning).
• Proven experience with process simulation and modeling software.
• Strong understanding of chemical principles and their application in mineral extraction.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
