Lead Metallurgist - Processing Plant

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly experienced Lead Metallurgist to oversee and optimize operations at their state-of-the-art processing plant in Birmingham . This critical position involves managing the entire metallurgical process, from ore characterization to final product recovery, ensuring maximum efficiency and yield. You will lead a team of skilled technicians and engineers, driving innovation and continuous improvement in plant performance. This role offers a unique chance to work with diverse mineral resources and implement advanced processing techniques in a key industrial hub.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the metallurgical processing plant, including crushing, grinding, flotation, and leaching circuits.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize recovery rates, concentrate grades, and operational costs.
• Conduct detailed metallurgical test work and pilot plant trials to evaluate new processes and reagents.
• Troubleshoot operational issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Oversee quality control procedures and ensure adherence to environmental and safety regulations.
• Supervise, train, and mentor a team of metallurgists and plant operators.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of hands-on experience in base metals or precious metals processing.
• Proven track record in plant operations, process optimization, and scale-up .
• Proficiency with metallurgical simulation software and process control systems.
• Strong analytical skills with expertise in mineral processing techniques.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
