About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Pharmaceutical Development Chemist to spearhead their formulation development efforts in Manchester . This senior position involves overseeing the development of innovative and stable pharmaceutical formulations for a diverse range of products. You will lead a team of chemists and technicians, ensuring the successful transition of drug substances into viable dosage forms. This role requires a blend of scientific expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the future of our client's product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the formulation development process for new pharmaceutical products, from early-stage concept to commercialization.
• Design and conduct experiments to optimize drug product stability, bioavailability, and manufacturability.
• Supervise and mentor a team of formulation scientists and technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Develop and implement robust analytical methods for characterizing drug products and raw materials.
• Ensure all development activities comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and relevant regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with regulatory affairs, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams to facilitate successful product approvals and launches.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical formulation development, with significant leadership experience.
• Deep understanding of pre-formulation, solid-state chemistry, drug delivery systems, and manufacturing technologies.
• Expertise in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, dissolution testing, and spectroscopic methods.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead scientific teams effectively.
• Strong knowledge of global regulatory guidelines for drug product development.
