About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Power Systems Engineer to drive critical projects within the renewable energy sector, based in our Reading office. This senior role is responsible for the technical leadership and delivery of complex power system designs and analyses, focusing on the integration of large-scale renewable generation and energy storage into the grid. You will guide a team of engineers, ensuring the highest standards of technical excellence and adherence to regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and analysis of power systems for renewable energy projects, including grid connection studies and stability assessments.
- Oversee the development of protection schemes, earthing strategies, and control system designs.
- Manage and mentor a team of power systems engineers, providing technical guidance and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with relevant national and international grid codes, standards, and regulations.
- Collaborate with project development, construction, and operations teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Review and approve technical documentation, reports, and calculations prepared by the engineering team.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the power systems engineering function and stay abreast of industry advancements.
Requirements
- MEng or Ph.D. in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in power systems engineering , with a significant focus on renewable energy integration .
- Proven track record in leading technical teams and managing complex engineering projects.
- Expertise in power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory, ETAP) and simulation techniques.
- Deep understanding of grid codes, electrical safety standards, and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within a dedicated engineering office environment in Reading .
