Lead Power Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Power Systems Engineer to spearhead critical projects within their expanding energy division based in Birmingham . This senior position involves leading the design, development, and implementation of complex power generation, transmission, and distribution systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our energy infrastructure, working with a team of talented engineers and project managers. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and engineering of various power systems projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and commissioning of new power infrastructure and upgrades.
• Manage and mentor a team of power systems engineers, providing technical guidance and support.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical reviews for proposed projects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure project success.
• Develop and implement strategies for improving the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of power systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Significant professional experience (8+ years) in power systems engineering , with a focus on generation, transmission, or distribution.
• Demonstrated experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
• In-depth knowledge of power system analysis tools (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP) and grid codes.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy integration and grid modernization technologies.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is highly desirable.
